The Alberta Friesian Horse Association (AFHA)

The Alberta Friesian Horse Association (AFHA) is the FHANA chapter for Alberta, NE. British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, NW Territory, and Yukon, composed of Friesian Horse owners in Canada and concerned with events regarding Friesian Horses.

We as Alberta Friesian Horse Association choose to register our Purebred Friesian Horses in the Studbook of the KFPS, via the Friesian Horse Association of North America. The KFPS Studbook is the original Studbook for the Friesian Horse.

The Friesian Horse Association of North America is a subsidiary association of the KFPS, representing the Friesian Horse Breed and the KFPS Studbook for North America.

The Royal [Dutch] Association of the Friesian Horse Studbook, based in The Netherlands.

The KFPS is a Netherlands-based organisation that works globally with local and regional organisations to 'protect the interests of the breed'. KFPS attends to the studbook administration for the entire world.

KFPS is the Netherlands' oldest and second largest studbook and has about 12,000 members living in the Netherlands and abroad. At this time there are about 40,000 Friesian horses registered.
